Welcome to the website of Jon Sutter, a furniture maker who specializes in making artistic and sculptural furniture of his own design. This website will show you examples of Jon’s work, tell you about Jon’s artistic and personal philosophy, as well as inform interested persons of work that is for sale. Several new sections have recently been added to the website. These include an updated portfolio, a section explaining the process of commissioning custom artwork, and a special section of design concepts that can be made into finished work at discount prices. What's New:

  • Special Discounts: A new section has been added to the website containing concept sketches of new work. These pieces are being offered at discount prices to anyone who is interested in ordering a commission directly from a sketch. Click here to visit this new section.

  • Commission Explanation: This new website section talks about the process of ordering artwork on commission. Ordering a custom piece of art can be very satisfying. However, it is best to know the process before jumping in. This section shows examples of work that has been ordered on commission including concept sketches used by the customer to make design decisions. Click here to read this section.

  • Right at Home: Jon’s Clock, Under Continuous Monitor, will be on display at the Smithsonian Institution’s Renwick Gallery from April 1, 2004 to January 17, 2005 as part of the exhibition “Right at Home.” The exhibition of over 50 examples of studio furniture spans a wide array of styles and approaches and includes pieces by such well known makers as Sam Maloof, Wendell Castle, Gary Knox Bennett, and many others. The Renwick Gallery, open daily from 10am to 5:30pm is located near the White House at the corner of 17th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC. Admission is free. This is an exhibition not to be missed by anyone with an interest in craftsmanship or contemporary furniture.

  • Meredith Gallery: Several of Jon's works are currently on display at Meredith Gallery in downtown Baltimore. The Gallery located at 805 North Charles Street features artist-made furniture and furnishings. For directions to the gallery call 410-837-3575. For online information about the gallery click here.

  • Email Filtering: Jon's Internet Service Provider (ISP) is using SPAM filtering software to block unwanted email solicitations. Although Jon has received assurances that non-SPAM email will not be blocked, a few emails are known to have been rejected. If anyone trying to contact Jon does have his or her email blocked, please resend the email and contact the Internet Service Provider as instructed in the rejection response. You will be helping to stop unwanted email blocking, and Jon will greatly appreciate your time and effort!!
